WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK
This piece is a quiet ode to Washington Square Park—a place that, for me, became more than just a green space. It became a gathering ground for laughter, conversation, and the kind of friendship that weaves itself into your story forever. During my first years in Pennsylvania, I often spent lunch hours here with two dear coworkers. Over time, those moments became rituals, and those coworkers became a chosen family. In spring, the ginkgo trees would unfurl their leaves, and white dogwood blossoms would open gently, announcing the return of warmth.
Ginkgo leaves and white dogwood blossoms, both gathered from the park itself, are the heart of this piece, symbols of memory, longevity, and renewal. Hydrangeas from my neighborhood in Ardmore bring grounding and calm. The rest of the blooms: white ranunculus petals, baby’s breath, and a classic white rose come from bouquets from Trader Joe’s, most often sourced from Ecuador and Colombia, places that remind me of home and heritage.
Pressed with intention and preserved in resin, this tray holds more than floral beauty, it holds a story of friendship, belonging, and the quiet joy of shared seasons. Let it be a tribute to the people and places that hold you through life’s transitions, the ones that bloom beside you, year after year.
