CHANTICLEER GARDEN

I still remember the first time I walked through Chanticleer Garden. It was early spring, just after I’d moved to Philadelphia. The cherry trees were beginning to let go of their petals, and the wind carried them like soft pink snow. White blooms shimmered in the background, and in that quiet swirl of color and movement, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy. It was as if the garden had opened its arms and said, Welcome home.

This resin tray is a tribute to that moment, a fleeting, luminous memory pressed into permanence. Peony petals from Chile and rose petals bloom with tender emotion. White astrantia and cheerful manzanilla, both grown in Ecuador, offer softness and subtle brightness. A single white tulip, cultivated in Lancaster, stands in quiet grace. Pennycress and sunflower ferns add organic movement, echoing the rhythm of a spring breeze. Hydrangeas from my Ardmore neighborhood and sprigs of limonium bring depth and texture, like layers of landscape and time.

Each bloom was gathered and pressed with care, then encased in resin, preserving not just their beauty, but the memory and joy they hold. Let this piece be a small altar of spring: a celebration of arrival, of beauty found in transition, and of the quiet magic that gardens offer us when we’re ready to receive it.
